Lhouette | Artist Attendance Announced

16 April 2015

Gallery Rouge St. Albans is delighted to announce the forthcoming attendance of contemporary artist LHOUETTE. Using his pioneering visual language which elegantly fuses street art with pop iconography, Lhouette will assemble an arsenal of especially commission works for the exhibition RETRO 100.  Exploring the development of the silver screen, acoustic and digital music as well as iconic faces and fashion brands, the works will re-imagine every decade in the 20th Century.

A gifted and naturally talented artist, Lhouette was born and raised in Luton, Bedfordshire, where he demonstrated his early promise in the arts. His earliest memories are of drawing, painting and designing. Despite receiving high praise from his teachers and peer group while at school, he rejected the idea of going to art school and surprised family and friends by joining the Royal Navy instead. He says "I wanted to see the world and get inspiration from other cultures." Five years and twenty- one countries later, Lhouette returned to the UK. During his entire naval career he continued to work on his art and creativity, which became infused with the sights and sounds of his experiences around the world.

Since leaving the Royal Navy, Lhouette has wasted no time in establishing himself as a creative force to be reckoned with. Within four years he had founded a high street art studio and exhibition space, Jumble Fresh Gig and Gallery, and achieved a post-graduate diploma in the arts from Birkbeck College, whilst simultaneously forging a name for himself on the contemporary art scene as an exceptionally skilled and innovative artist.

With urban influences and references to pop culture, Lhouette's non-conformist style is impossible to define and continues to develop and evolve. His debut solo exhibition was a sell-out, and when coupled with his shortlisting by the Fine Art Trade Guild as 'Best Up and Coming Artist' in 2014, it's easy to see why many critics are sitting up and taking note. With a flourishing art career ahead of him, his works are being considered as promising investments, further reinforcing his reputation as one of today's most exciting talents on the contemporary art scene.

RETRO 100 is set to be one of the outstanding highlights of the early summer season therefore RSVP to [email protected] is highly recommended.
