Artist in Attendance - Rich Simmons

DSC_0099DSC_0068Gallery Rouge pushed the boat out again, and the audience responded! With a superb collection of iconic graffiti artwork, Rich Simmons demonstrated why he is one to watch in the world of Urban Art. It has taken Rich four years of application and endeavour to build the skills to create fantastic work of such depth. All stencils are hand drawn and cut on cartridge paper, where three stencils are crafted to build up the detail on each piece. With his work almost sold out at the show Rich was naturally delighted with the response, and he has great plans for creating larger and more detailed stencils for his next collection. When you consider his work with the Princes Trust, his voluntary work with VInspired , his own charity endeavours through Art Is The Cure and a clothing label in the Asterisk movement it’s amazing how he finds the time! Rich Simmons is a dedicated artist whose determination and diligent application is going to see him go a long way.To view Rich's work, please click here...DSC_0089DSC_0085DSC_0104DSC_0059

Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen visits Gallery Rouge

[caption id="attachment_973" align="aligncenter" width="496" caption="Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen "]Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen [/caption]During recent filming for the home decorating series ‘House Gift’, Laurence was looking to identify something rather special for his clients. Many of you may be familiar with the format of the programme; three celebrity interior designers are presented with the choice of three envelopes containing either £100, £300 or £1000. Armed with these funds, their goal is to buy a ‘house gift’ which they hope will be chosen by the participating couple, hence making them the winner. With only a day to work with speed is of the essence. Laurence specifically wanted to visit an art gallery with a wide choice of quality artwork, and identified Gallery Rouge as the place to go.Known for his flamboyant style and dress sense, Laurence cuts quite a dashing figure. Laurence is himself an acclaimed artist, whose work has been published and is much sought after. A graduate of Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, Laurence was always destined to carve out a niche in the fashion and design industry.Laurence was incredibly complimentary of Gallery Rouge, commenting positively on the diverse mix of original work held by the gallery. Whilst the walls of his Cotswold home are full to the rafters, he recognised the efforts of gallery owner Kuldip Chohan in showcasing stunning works from around the world. To see what happened, you’ll have to tune in to the new series of ‘House Gift’ which starts on November 8th at 2pm!

Introducing Carl BouMansour

Revelation, 2007, Acrylic on canvas, 83x98cm.Gallery Rouge is please to introduce its most recent collaboration with Bedfordshire based artist, Carl BouMansour.

Born in 1976, BouMansour initially studied biochemistryand it was here he developed his understanding of the body and form.  Continually questioning, Carl explores what it means to be 'alive' with his powerful paintings of the human physique. Here, science and art merge to create a critique of inner and outer beauty, belief systems and identity.

A self taught painter, Carl organised the TURF Art Music & Film Festival in Luton in 2002, ran anatomy and life-drawing workshops, and even produced drawings for and portrayed war artist Albert Richards in BBC TV’s Docu-drama ‘D-Day’. But to Carl BouMansour these are all forms of exploring the human experience.

Presenting the world's premier relief sculptor, Bill Mack

Longing_SSGallery Rouge is thrilled to announce that it will begin representing the world's premier relief sculptor Bill Mack exclusively in the UK.  The news comes shortly after the anticipated solo exhibition of Canadian artist Kal Gajoum whom Gallery Rouge also solely represents in the country.  Earlier this year gallery owner Kuldip Chohan flew to New York to meet with Bill and personally select works to be shown at Gallery Rouge in the coming months.  The signing further confirms the gallery’s commitment to bringing its clients internationally recognised artists whose work marries a cutting edge practice with outstanding technical ability. Bill Mack exemplifies these traits; the artist works in such a rare art form that there is nowhere to go to learn his art and no one teaches his technique.  Combining low and high relief, incised lines, and elements in the full-round in sculpture works that are light enough to be hung on a wall, Bill Mack directly involves the viewer in a 3-dimensional experience, both textural and tactile, that is often startling real.Bill has had exhibitions in galleries from New York City to Beverly Hills, and from Tokyo to Frankfurt. His work is in the collections of President Clinton and former Presidents Ford and Reagan, actors and renowned art aficionados, Sylvester Stallone, Elizabeth Taylor, and Tony Curtis. kuldip8stampede_deluxe
